Board the Double Decker

DOUBLE UP was a recurring dream to convert a London Bus into an offbeat place.

Rob & Kim Rayevsky owned and operated Rolling River Cafe Gallery Inn, with the help of their daughter Miriam, in Parksville NY from 2008 to 2018. Afterwards, they opened and ran the kitchen at Upward Brewing Company for 2 and 1/2 years, which Miriam left to start Jitterbug Sights & Sounds, and Rob & Kim left to turn Double Up into a reality.

They bought a 1980 Bristol double decker bus in 2022, which was a retired tour bus in Philadelphia, Kim’s hometown. First Rob painted it, then they transformed it into a commercial kitchen on the 1st floor, concessions windows for takeout, and tables on the 2nd for a bird's eye view.

DOUBLE UP is eat in and take out, locally sourced, healthy food, and environmentally conscious.

OUR TEAM

ROB
Rob Rayevsky was born in Moscow in 1955. He did not want to do sports or play piano. So his mother took him to an art school for children when he was nine.
Rob explored every corner of the former Soviet Union. Eventually, his curiosity took him as far as New York City, where he was very impressed by stretch limousines, which he had never seen before. He decided to stay.
Rob holds a BFA in Graphics Arts from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute and a BFA in Illustration from Parsons School of Design. His first children's book was published in 1985 and then he illustrated 23 more. His books have won numerous awards including the Gold Award in Children's Market Category from the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles. He also did some award-winning editorial illustrations. To know more of his artwork, see www.rayevsky.com.
In 2008, Rob swapped his brushes for a kitchen knife & apron.

KIM
Kim Rayevsky was born in Philadelphia in 1956. She loved figure skating and playing piano. She traveled with her family all over the world on cruise ships, and learned French, Spanish & Russian languages.
Kim holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. She was a computer programmer for many years until meeting Rob, and discovered that a less hectic job was to help him with his children’s books, and raise their 3 kids. She swapped writing computer programs for computer graphic design, managing a restaurant, a garden, and a flock of hens.

JUSTIN
Justin Edwards was born in Livingston Manor in 1993. He loved running around outside in the woods and playing video games. He would run super fast and pretend he was Sonic the Hedgehog.
Justin started his baking career in 2009 at the beloved Flour Power Bakery on the outskirts of town. He baked there until they closed in 2012. He then worked at local restaurants until he one day he found Rob at Upward in 2020, and joined him as his baker & sous chef . While waiting patiently for DOUBLE UP to open, Justin kept up with Rob & Kim with a plan to become their Master Baker.
Justin currently in his spare time composes music on a computer with synthesizers & sequencers in his electronic music production studio, and is a master of glitch art @liquidsakura.
